Parodic Realism

Artists have critiqued pop. culture for some time now. The critique has come in practically every form possible. That's the motivation behind the American Idol video. I think my goal is to blur the line between actual reality, and my own perception. I'm trying to rearrange the language and desires of pop. culture in order to exploit the underlying messages being sold through its content. I think it's a form of realism but obviously parodied in the sense that the visuals and behavior is all there but the intentions of the piece are quite the opposite of what might be expected from such a person, or performance, or video.
